The very end when Isabelle escaped reminds me of Alias.

Freeze! You're under arrest. You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney! If you cannot afford one, tough noogies! You can make one phone call! I recommend Trixie: 976-Triple 5-LOVE. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you?! Well do you, punk?!

Bleh I was on a family vacation when this aired so I missed it. Is it going to be playing again any time soon or could someone just give me a run down on anything important that isn't in the two-min recap? Oh and since it hasn't been said enough, death to Ben!

The episode normally re-plays at 8 am (Mountain Time).

I cheered when Ben arrived at the appartment!

Sorry, guys, but I thought this episode was a stinker.

To me, the only really good part of this one was Shawn’s plotline. Even Kyle’s was uninteresting, now that they’ve revealed the truth about Cassie.

What was with Diana’s rant when she entered the library? Get your head in the game!

I found Marco’s leaps of logic completely ridiculous and convenient to the plot. I also found it odd that, in her first appearance in the Theory Room, not one of the guys seemed to have any issues with Diana at all. It’s one thing to cope and act professional, but it’s quite another to act like there’s never been anything between Diana and Marco. I’d have thought at least Brady or P.J. would have been cold or awkward with her, them being Marco’s friends and all. Ah, well, this was written by a guest writer.

And what was with the sound in the first scene? It was like they were all talking through tin cans! There were some other sound issues throughout the episode. It was distracting and poor quality.

Could they make the lighting in the TR any worse? That scene was awful to watch.

What was with the van Izzy was in NOT having something to separate the prisoner from the guy with the keys? Can we say “convenient for the plot”?

Oh, but I did like how the use of Ben Franklin quotes was the tell—that was nice, especially the quotes.

How good can the ep be with this much Ben? The heartless pig... let the chick go to a funeral without giving her any more grief. People don't have to be best buds with the deceased to be touched by their death and want to honor them.

You said it! What’s it to him, anyway?!

Quote:

Sometimes the 'twists' just fit too well... there had to be a reason they spent a few seconds of airtime to show him being there and being all obnoxious... it screamed "Guy gonna do something important", ya know?

One of the many reasons I didn’t like this episode.

Call me crazy, but I'm not really feeling how NTAC (and Tom) think it's cool to stomp all over civil liberties. (Bringing in little old ladies because they blog about promicin, encouraging Shawn not to hold a peaceful assembly. Could they stomp on the First Amendment any more explicitly?) We get plenty of that in real life, thank you very much.

All the more reason for our heroes to have to deal with it, them being Feds and all, and being conflicted by it. But, yeah, it was icky!

Nice to meet you, by the way!

And yes, I realize Tom is a pragmatist and he's "just trying to do his job." That doesn't mean he has to toe the company line so willingly. Look at Diana: she manages to do her job AND voice her dissent. It's hard not to look at NTAC like Big Brother when they keep acting like it. Regardless of who's pulling the strings.

Well, there’s got to be someone on each side of the issue, and since Diana is planning on skipping town as soon as she finds her sister, she can get away with saying what she thinks without worrying about the repercussions. Tom can’t. Plus, I think Tom’s worried about Kyle maybe having gotten some promicin, you know? Maybe he’s projecting a bit? He’s like that.

I just don't like Diana's attitude lately, I don’t know, I can't really put my finger on it. She's always been the more "lets look at it from the other angle" kind of person but lately she just is acting a little different. I don't like her as much in this season so far.

For Diana’s attitude, I think inconsistent and unprofessional are the words you’re looking for. Yeah, Diana used to be my favorite character. Now I can hardly stand her. She’s so selfish and all over the board lately. One minute she’s thoughtful, the next she’s cold-hearted and bristly. I blame the writers. While I understand the desire to create a sense of conflict, tugging a character this way and that to do so doesn’t work for me. Maybe it’s an expression of her internal conflict—being back at NTAC—but if that’s the case, they should hang a lantern on it.

Quote:

[Diana’s] character is only a distant memory of what it used to be. That's both good and bad, but mostly bad since I liked the stronger more focused and resolute Diana from earlier. I wish she would just get her head on straight. She really needs to stop focusing on all her compromises and imperfections and just act on what she knows is right. (Yeah, Ben: not right. He's the one screwing her up in the first place. She was never this frazzled with Marco.)

It’s one of my biggest gripes about this season—along with the drop in sound, lighting and editing quality. I liked Diana. Now I want to take her by the shoulders and shake her and demand, “What have you done with my stalwart heroine?!”

Quote:

[Cassie] said something like "if you don't show up I'll be gone forever" (what was the exact quote?) Huh? Since when do abilities just up and go when they feel like they're being ignored?

If only Maia had that option!

Quote:

Maybe Cassie's Al to Kyle's Sam. (Except Kyle doesn't time travel or periodically dress in drag. Or at least not yet!)

LOL! Hadn’t thought of that comparison, yet.

Looks like Diana was getting a little irritated with Ben

I know, right? Did anyone else see the eye roll? Look at your recordings again and after they kiss in the last scene with the radio playing she hugs him while rolling her eyes. I really hope Maia has a vision soon. One involving either mass amounts of pain on Ben or Diana finally growing the rest of her brain and ditching him. I'd prefer either!

LOL! You guys make me feel better about this one. Must go back to look!

I'm the Doyle fan yet I found myself unattached to her in this episode. When I think NTAC director, I think strong and emotionless. She totally just flooded her work life with her personal this episode! I found it really out of character of her to just be crying at her desk with all the agents sweeping in and out. Why would anyone allow their employees to see such weakness? It didn't make sense...

Maybe I need to rewatch the scene, but I was under the impression that it was very late and Tom was the only one there. But, yeah, unprofessional.

Quote:

Ben didn't want Di to go to the funeral but that part is understandable. I probably wouldn't be comfortable with going to a funeral that I don't know

Then he could have said, “Are you okay going without me?” I’m afraid I don’t think it’s at all understandable for him to be so controlling. A loving, supporting partner is exactly that—loving and supporting. He was critical and commanding about what should have been a non-issue. Your significant other says, “I want to go to this funeral/wedding/baby shower/birthday party/concert/whathaveyou” and, unless it’s conflicting with something vital, you say, “Sure thing!” It was one of the many aspects that I didn’t like about this episode.

Oh, and as to Heather, I think she'd make a great baddie, but I don't see it happening. Like Shawn, her ability is too altruistic for her to be bad.

my thought: meh!

the biggest value of this episode was for anyone who was planning on writing a 4400/Dresden Files crossover.
(please, please, tell me someone's planning that)

well, at least they explained it reasonably - electrical signals.
(I thought "well if she'd bound herself to an unattached skull or something, she might not have had that fading problem) :)

my comment to Tom: Get your hands off her, you two-timing puppy-faced bastard!

was I the only one who was wondering if the teacher and the healer are on their way to being a couple? they seem sweet together.

if Doyle's there because "they blinked," then why did Tom come with her?
(one can explain it, I suppose, as she needed someone to help with the wheelchair)

aha!, the value of Ben!: if Diana had answered the phone, she wouldn't have had a recording of the message from Audrey to give to Marco and the other Theory Room Guys.
;)

let the chick go to a funneral without giving her any more grief. People don't have to be best buds with the decessed to be touched by their death and want to honor them.

it felt like Diana wanted to go to the funeral for two reasons:
1. Audrey had gone to Paris in the 50s.
2. Audrey didn't compromise, ever, in her life.

I can understand going to a funeral for someone you respect, someone you wish you'd known better...but Diana didn't seem to have a very good reason.
(if I may say so, she had a better reason for snogging Ben, than for wanting to go to this funeral) :o

My review has been written and typed. Enjoy!

-One other thing: Cassie is Kyle's ability but I just thought she was apart of him like his subconcious or something. How did she know about that acr accident at 2 a.m. and how did she know Isabelle Tyler would be in the van? Just what exactly would you call Kyle's ability anyway?

a precognative imaginary friend.

And, not to quibble, but Isabelle didn't really do anything evil in this episode. Yes, she took the opportunity that was afforded her to break out of the van, but it was the guys driving that other car who really took an active role in her escape.

Active Accidental.

Hm...would that be a verb class? :)
