~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Title: Heat scaring. Author: Rodlox. Episode: Lockdown. POV: Maia. Form: Drabble. Summary: Maia's thoughts as she answers Diana's question at the end of the episode. and yes, the number of "r"s in this title is deliberate. ~~~ Mom wheels me backwards up to the ambulance. "And you're coming with us," I ask, and I can't see a blessed thing. I'd be smiling and skipping with right now, mom, if not for the heat. "Right?" Nothing's clear. I can't see what's going to happen. Any other time, this would be good. I can be normal. Just like any other little girl my age with a fever of -- I think I've past 103 degrees, mom. I've got you and Simon, I don't need anything else. ...except no more heat. I burn. I hurt. I'm glad my tummy isn't knotting. I can't see what's ahead. I'm normal at last. I'm scared. ~~~~ the end. |
